Classic Lupin III arcade game coming to Egret II Mini!
Taito's classic arcade title based on Lupin III will be included in the Egret II Mini line up once it releases during 2022.
This new micro version of the well-known Taito arcade cabinet contains a huge selection of retro games - featuring the likes of Space Invaders, Elevator Action, Rainbow Islands Extra, Bubble Bobble, Scramble, Darius Gaiden, Qix and many more.
Taito’s Lupin III, which is notable for being one of the first ever video games based on an anime, is joining the list as one of the more old-school arcade additions.
First hitting the scene in Japan back in 1980, around the era of Cagliostro and Part II, the game features Lupin III donning traditional Arsène Lupin I attire as he attempts to steal eight money bags while avoiding traps. If players are able to dodge deadly dogs and give Zenigata’s guards the slip, they can escape with the loot and set a new hi-score.
A rudimentary version of Yuji Ohno’s classic Lupin III theme plays as players attempt to escape with the money, building tension and adding to the excitement.
Taito’s mini-cabinet is being praised for its strong line-up of games, including many well-known titles across many eras of the arcade scene.
Unfortunately there is no announced release data for the mini cabinet outside of Japan, however if you are fortunate to buy it on site or import it, the cabinet will retail for 18,678 Japanese yen (for the base unit and starter pack of games) and is due to release in March 2022. Please note that some games and controllers (including track ball and d-pad variations) are sold separately.
Pre-orders will open up in the near future - keep an eye on the official website for more details.
