Cagliostro coming to IMAX theatres in Japan this November!

Just as the United Kingdom finally gets a chance to see the classic 1979 animated film The Castle of Cagliostro in theatres for the first time (in a while, at least) - Japan says… “hold my plate of spaghetti meatballs - we can do one better!”

In celebration of the films forty-fifth anniversary, fans in Japan will be able to catch Hayao Miyazaki’s feature length directorial debut with superior image quality and sound in IMAX for the very first time. On Friday the 29th of November 2024, participating theatres up and down the country will show the film for one day only - so don’t miss it, if you’re in the area!

Three new posters have also been created to mark the occasion - one based on the original artwork from the films 1979 release, a second based on the Italian Blu-ray set from 2021, and a brand-new piece (pictured below) penned by the director of LUPIN ZERO and long-time animator of the series, Daisuke Sakô!

Movie-goers will be also be able to snag exclusive character artwork from the film, pictured below, by completing an SNS campaign (comes on coloured paper, while stocks last)! As with the poster above, this artwork is also by Daisuke Sakô. Each print will be limited to one per person, and only available while stocks last.

More information on the films re-release, along with the ability to find participating theatres and pre-purchase tickets, can be done over at the official 45th anniversary website.
